City Of Bones (book review)

Dear reader,

I did it! Finally! I started the mortal instruments. It’s taken me 3 weeks just to read the first book but I still did it! Yay!

The reason it took me 3 weeks to read it because the first ½ is slow and not loads happens. A thing that’s kind of annoying about this book is there are some events that happen, like when they had to go to the hotel to get Simon back, that feels in-important and unnecessary until the very end when you realise their importance. That’s why the second ½ is so much better than the first. It basically took me 2 and ¾ weeks to read the first half then today I read 250 pages. I rest my case.

I thought our characters where all pretty great and I don’t think clary is as hateable as everyone says she is, I think she’s just human (kinda lol). I thought Alec and Isabelle were badass and I love Jace. I really hope we keep Simon even though he’s mundane or is he?!...

I knew Hodge was dodgy from the beginning and I knew that stupid bird was going to be a nuisance at some point. I don’t think we saw enough of Valentine for me to decide if he’s a good villain or not.

Omg Jace and Clarry would be great together if only they weren’t stupid siblings. That really annoyed me. I wish that was not a thing. But, I have this teeny tiny feeling they’ll end up together anyway. I’m not completely convinced there’re sidings. I think that’s just me being in denial though. I think I’m most annoyed that there full siblings and not even ½ siblings. I just ah I ship them and now I feel gross that I ship them you know?

I hope we see more of Magnas, I loved him. I totally ship him and Alec 100%

I’m not gonna lie, my biggest problem with this book was the writing. At times it was okay but at others- I was cringing so hard. However, let’s not be hasty, It is a debut novel and it’s done amazing.

For what it’s worth, I’ll give this book a 3/5 so It has room to grow.

Love
