Seven books I wish I had been assigned at school

Seven books I wish I had read at school Dear reader, Today marks 5 days before I am officially back to work. The thought of this coming year, and all it entails makes my insides want to scrunch up into shriveled origami bird and fly fly fly away. In preparation for this horrible event I read a set text called An inspector calls which, we will be studying this year- my god was I bored. Could it have been worse? Yes, yes it could. I could have had to read a 700 page auto-biography disguised as a philosophy book written a hundred years ago by a white man for my religious studies class- oh wait! God I love education. Whilst I was reading this relatively short play, I thought to myself, why this? Why out of all the books, did they pick this? I was lost for an answer, even after extensive research into the author in an effort to find some context. This then got me thinking, what would I assign a Modern-literature class in the 21 st century? This would be an opportunity to enlighte...

The Song of Achilles - review and discussion

Dear reader,  I have always had an unexplained love for Greek Mythology, yet I never act much on this interest. I haven't read the Percy Jackson books or read up on the Demi-gods of the past world. However, everything I have learnt about Mythology or heard about through relations of mine that have also found the stories intriguing, I have always found highly fascinating. My interest in Religious Studies, a subject I take, tied with the pull of such a deep-rooted and strong belief system as shown in Greek history means I tend to jump at the settings of novels in battles such as Troy, the stories of Hero's such as Achilles or anywhere an anger struck God meddles in human affairs. Therefore, this book obviously caught my eye. I instantly fell in love with the writing. Highly descriptive and deeply moving, Madeline Miller tells the story of such passion from a highly intimate view point. The setting changes quite frequently throughout the small book, yet the atmosphere is highly co...

I finished the throne of glass series- Kingdom Of Ash by Sarah J. Maas review (spoilers)

Dear Reader,  Can you believe I actually did it? Because honestly I can't, even if it did take me - wait for a second, let me just scroll and scroll and scroll- one year and seven months, thought it was going be even longer to be perfectly honest. But bloody hell, I did it. And in four days, may I add. Yeah, that's right it took me 4 days to read this 1000 paged book. I must just be as brilliant as I've always believed myself to be!  Before we get too far into this boys, girls and my wide audience of cats that type weird shit like 'ignorethetypos.blogspot.com/' into the computer in the dead of night, I have four thousand pages of notes for this book, and this is about to get messy. Also, I can't tell if these are tear stains or dandelion root tea stains on half of them, so please send your prayers for me trying to decipher and translate this utter trash.  So I read this on audiobook, I think most people did since this book is bigger than my head, and I'm so...

(I did a little shoot for this book when I finished it, I thought I’d add a few of them in, let me know If I should do more of these, it was really fun.) Dear Reader, How long have I been spelling Sarah’s name wrong? Don’t answer that, I’ve been reading this series since I was like 11 so probably a LONG ASS TIME. Fuck sake Iss, you couldn’t of just goodreads searched it. Well *claps hands* this blog is called Ignore The Typos for a reason- let’s discuss.  Holy hell, did reading these books remind me of just how obsessed I am with TOG? Yes. A scary amount. Throne of glass is one of those series where I read one of the books every 5 months, rave and rave bout how AMAZING it was for a solid- Year? Talking about nothing but, and then continue to serenade the series with awe filled sobs every time I spot it on my bookshelf but never have the NERVE to pick up the next book. Why? Mainly because I think Sarah’s gonna pull some shit that I will never come back from, like kill off one...
