Heir of fire by Sarah J. Mass (book review)
Dear reader,
Okay, so we follow 3 main storylines in different chapters.
-Manon and that whole witch and dragon thing, oh sorry sorry I meant wyvern.
-The castle with Chaol and Aedien (let's call him A cause I forgot how to spell his name)
-Celaena and Rowan
I thought the first half was really boring I'm not gonna lie. I was not intrigued at all. However there was some stuff going on (in the real world) and I think it may have been me and not the book because, thinking back, the first half was good but it didn't make me want to drop everything to read it like the second half did. So in the first half Manon and her witchy palls where my fav chapters cause they were new and I found it interesting. After watching other peoples review I was surprised at how they really didn't like Manon whereas I kind of loved her. I think she's gonna become a good witch and side with Celaena eventually. Whether the 13 go with her, I'm not too sure. As well as meeting the witches we meet A who is an arrogant son of a bitch until of course we find out he's not a pompous ass hole and he's actually Celaenas childhood protector and maybe, just maybe a future love interest? I dunno, we shall see. I mean I'm pretty sure that's incest but I don't think they are really cousins. I also can not wait for that badass scene in Queen of shadows where Celaena saves A and maybe we'll see a huge magic battle with Dorian and Celaena, which would be heartbreaking but sick.
Speaking of new fit Warrior characters, Rowan was great. Again, in the first half I thought he was a bit of a dick head but then changed my mind when he and Celaena became best buds. Which by the way, I'm not sure will last and I think rowan is end game like proper Kingdom of Ash end game. And no I totally did not see a fanart of their wedding on Pinterest and didn't look to see if it was confirmed or not because that would be a major spoiler. I loooooooved that bit at the end with the blood oath, It was predictable but I loved it all the same. Overall, I really liked Rowan. However, this book made me despise Chaol. Now if you've read the throne of glass review you know I used to like him but the fact that he was the only one that didn't know whether he was on Celaenas side made me want to smack him in the face. Dorian, who is the king's bloomin' son, was still 100% on Celaenas side and yet choal was still jumping on either side of the fence. I really hope him and Celaena never get back together, their relationship was downright boring.
So back to Dorian. This whole thing with Sorscha was okay. I liked that it added romance to a book with no romance in it and that it was like cinderella on top of the original cinderella.
I was, like Chaol, really happy for Dorian because she helped him and I was shocked when she died. I was also surprised that so many people knew she was gonna die from the start, I totally did not see that coming at all.
I did almost cried. But it wasn't because I would miss her, it was because of Dorian's reaction to her death, which was heart-melting, to say the least. OMG and that huge magic battle at the end was so so cool.
Other than that battle we also saw Manon save Petrah which was awesome. I also liked Petrah a lot and I really hope that Sarah releases a Blueblood, Crochan, Blackbeak and yellow thingymadigs novellas because I'm really interested in them. I literally hate Iskra I hope Manon kills her in Queen of shadows.
Then we had the fight with the princes and Celeana. That was fantastic. The flashback where they were all telling her to get up had me holding back tears. Now, this whole thing with the towers was a little weird because everyone kind of ignored it. Celeana didn't mention trying to bring one down and to be fair, I don't blame her because there not the biggest issue. The only real reason I want her to destroy them is so rowan can come to Rifthold with her. I hope we see from rowans perspective in the next book if not then she better not have been joking when she said she'd call for him soon.
Queen Maeve of fairyland is a mythic bitch and I'm pretty sure she is somehow in cahoots with the king. But she couldn't be because she was the one who got Celaena to train. But maybe it's a setup?? I dunno we'll see I guess.
As you can see I have a lot to say about this book and I could continue for another 9 paragraphs but my laptops about to die so I hope you enjoyed.
Love

before you send me ANOTHER email asking where my Crown of midnight review is, calm down, I will explain. Crown of midnight was really really good. So good that I speed through it and didn't take any notes whilst reading. Therefore I couldn't write a decent review. Volia! Now because Heir of fire is lonnnnnng and the first half is slooooow I didn't read it as fast as Crown of midnight and I actually took notes. Here we go:
