The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavender- book review
Dear reader,
today I will be reviewing: the strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavender by Lesley Walton.
Straight of the bat, I absolutely loved reading this book. In 5 adjectives I'd call it;
-Passionate - with amazing romance
-Dazzling
-Captivating
-Awe-inspiring
-Unique. - creative and new ideas
The book follows a family tree of amazing women; Ava's great grandmother, her grandmother, her mother and then herself. The family women are constantly accused of witchcraft because of unexplainable things that keep happening to them. For example, When the family women die they simply disappear into a pile of burning ash and, Avas brother specks to no one but the ghosts of his grandmothers siblings. However none as strange as when little Ava lavender is born with a pair of wings, (note this book is not a fairy tale, quite the opposite really. Its a story about love, pain and not so happily ever after. It's about tragedy and how to be stronger and learn from it.) This brilliantly miss-guiding and mysterious
book is just thrilling to read and I couldn't put it down. Put it this way, you feel as though you're in a cloud dreaming and looking down watching the story unfold before you. I would recommend it to the sad, the happy, the love-struck and all in between. Some may not appreciate this book enough. I recommend reading it slowly and trying to process everything.
This is the kind of book that everybody interprets differently, that's what makes it so beautiful.
My rating: *****
