Wayward son (book review)

HELLO THERE- THIS IS FUTURE ISSY. I AM SO SORRY THIS BLOG IS UNCOMPLETED BUT I READ THIS BOOK LIKE 6 MONTHSS AGO NOW AND I HAVE NOT GOT A SINGLE CLUE WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY. SO YEAH. ENJOY THIS UNFINISHED MESS.

the reason I am writing this now and not 4 weeks ago- when I actually finished this book- is because I had to take some time to process what the fudge this book was even about.

It was just so extremely random, a lot of random things happened that- this amount of time after reading- still don't really make a lot of sense.

Now don't get me wrong, I did not hate Wayward Son at all. I didn't even dislike it, I was just confused? Like-why?

It was a really quick read, it took me about a week, but I gotta say I wasn't that motivated to pick it up.

So  I think the reason I was so confused and yes, maybe a little bit disappointed was because of Carry on right? We barely got enough snowbaz action in that book and in Wayward son, we got nothing. Okay, that's wrong- we got ONE kiss on the side of the car when they were running away from the vampire festival. But that was literally it?! It just felt like a complete waste of a sequel to such a great book. Like if this book was it's own book- like a novella- it wouldn't be that bad. But it was a sequel! That we waited for and pre-ordered and got excited about. :/

Okay, on a less negative- why did I buy I spend 14 quid on the special edition- note, there where admittedly some things I did like about this book:

I loved the bit in the cheesecake factory where Baz is comforting heartbroken Penny. I loved Simon getting jealous about that vampire guy, whatever his name. I loved Baz getting into himself, discovering his fashion and just being this camp-vampire-wizard-icon that we all love. I also loved the little scene with the firefly- that was really cute. AND OF COURSE the best thing about this book (minus Baz) prrrrresenting, the one and only- the myth- the legend. Shephard. He definitely made this book 80x better. But- him and penny? 0_o I dunno about them two. I feel like, in my head, Shephard is so much younger than Penny (probably because shes so condescending- lol ). Did you feel that? Don't get we wrong they'd be adorable but I just can't picture it.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold: Amazon.co.uk: Kawaguchi, Toshikazu, Trousselot, Geoffrey: 9781529029581: Books Dear Reader,  This review will not contain spoilers, so feel free to read if you haven't yet read the book, and with that let's begin:  These stories definitely build in intensity as you plough on, with subtly building engagement. The first two stories for me provided little interest, a point at which usually I would choose to DNF and call my loses. However, something about the writing, simple but almost translucent into the lives of these individuals, gave me the impression that it had more to give despite the seemingly stagnant story endings.  I think the best way to describe my growth to loving this book is recognising the beauty within its simplicity. As a predominantly YA reader myself, I couldn't help but expect this book to tie up in a perfect interloping knot at the end. My hope of this, I see now, may have blinded me to the crystal  humanity being bare...
