Fresh and Anticipated books to pre-order the sh*t out of. (5 new recommendations)

Dear Reader, I am unanimously known for my long, loving intros however, I have decided to spare you, oh chosen ones, the suffering on this fine day and get straight to the point- I couldn’t be more excited for these books to come out. So without further ado, let’s get fan-girly together chicks.
1- Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Set to come out on the first of June, same day as another title on this list, I could not be more excited for some more TJR to add to my TBR. Here’s a quickfire sum up; Malibu, California: The wealthy and troubled Riva family is preparing their annual end-of-summer party, the talk of the town in the long, hot August of 1983. Nina, surfer and supermodel, has just been dumped. Her various siblings bring about additional drama. Just add alcohol and mix! (sourced from goodreads) Intrigued? Ditto darling. This strikes me as a sequel to ‘We were liars’ by E.Lockhart, with those same nostalgic summer vibes we are all craving, in these rainy months. Honestly, I would read Taylors dry cleaning receipts ( I bet she has excellent clothing taste ) if they were available to me and I beg you to give her writing a go, if you haven’t already. Another one of hers to check out is Maybe in Another Life, though not as highly rated as some of her others, the plot of this is bound to entice you and would be a perfect anticipation read for Malibu Rising.
2- Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo is set to come out of the 30th of this month, the second instalment to King of Scars, another Grisha verse read. Having not started this series myself (the scandal), I have not much to comment on and will not include a blurb in attempt to avoid spoilers, however, I have read the Six of Crows duology, and intend to read ninth house later on this month. SoC was my favourite duo I have ever read, never has any author I’ve read works from, has been able to give me so much love for characters in so little pages. Her writing is utterly captivating and downright awesome, a queen amongst fantasy novelists, hence why any book from her, is highly anticipated on my list. Check it out. 3- One last stop by Casey McQuiston has to be my most anticipated book of the year- I can not wait, I have pre-ordered my copy and am counting down the days on my ridiculously adorable hedgehog calendar (could I get any cooler?). Casey is a young, ecstatically talented new writer, most famous for her adorable debut, red white and royal blue- a love story between the first son and the prince of wales. Tell me you are not itching to read that, I dare you. Just as I am itching to read this. Lemme give you the low down: Being billed as “a queer spin on Kate & Leopold” and features a compelling time-travel twist. Twentysomething waitress August has her eye on this gorgeous punk-rock girl Jane. Unfortunately, Jane is displaced in time from 1970s Brooklyn. Finding love is hard enough without breaches in the time-space continuum. No fair. (sourced from goodreads) I’m sorry Miss McQuiston, how do you do it? This is another one of those authors I’m very willing to sell my soul to, for extra content. I am SO excited for this addition to my LGBTQ TBR, it physically hurts. June first better be training for the SPRINT it will be running to get here, as soon as possible. Agh, let’s move on before I check my minute countdown again (114080, in case you were wondering).
4- Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee. You’ve seen the movie, with dashing Leo and even more dashing Kate Winslet, no one in their right mind didn’t adore it- and now we get to witness it from the people behind the iron gate. Loosely inspired by the recently uncovered account of six Titanic survivors of Chinese descent- I am beyond intrigued- this historical fiction is set to come out May 4th, and has been featured as a goodreads movers&shakers march buzziest YA read. More details: From the critically acclaimed author of The Downstairs Girl comes the richly imagined story of Valora and Jamie Luck, twin British - Chinese acrobats traveling aboard the Titanic on its ill-fated maiden voyage. (sourced from goodreads) I’m frankly most anticipating getting to re-live the Titanic’s journey down under in my favoured format, who knows, we might even hear about a certain beautiful couple caught in a particularly steamy car.
5- Okay this next one has already been published, but it has only been a few short weeks and was definitely a most awaited read for me; ‘Act your age, Eve Brown’ by Talia Hibbert. The third and final addition to the Brown sister’s trilogy. I have not discussed these books nearly enough on this blog, they are stupidly brilliant. Funny, sexy, smart and awfully cosy are just a few of the ways I could sum up the Brown Sister books. I finished ‘Take a hint, Dani Brown’ just the other day which was as marvelous as the first book and I am seriously holding back from not picking up the youngest sister, Eve Brown’s, story this minute. Talia’s writing is purely addictive, I can’t get enough of it even if I drag a book out to last a month. Any 5 minutes I have, between meetings or previously online school classes or even dinner- is devoted to the Brown sisters and their Beau’s. Any person who has dared speak to me in the last 4 weeks has been stampeded with puppy eyes and links to buy the book, just so I could someone to gush about them to. A perfect gal-pal book club read and a genuinely un-flawed, fun-loving series that’s bound to make your stomach butterflies go absolutely mental.
Well folks those are my 5! Let me know if you have any anticipated reads you would like me to read and review, what you’re reading at the moment or just how you like your tea-I’m all ears.
Until next time,
Issy x
