My Second Review of Daisy Jones & the six

Dear reader,

Before you say it, trust me I know. I haven't posted in a month and I'm repeating content- it's not because I don't have any ideas! It's well- I'll explain.

I've been extremely anxious and down about life right now. I've gone through some big life changes and I'm going back to school and I'm scared! I'm terrified actually. This is scary shit you know. GCSE's and Mocks and all the changes to school. I bloody hate these one way systems. Lord knows I can barley get to my classes as it is let alone a whole new route. The only thing that's really been getting me through is books (what a combo) Anyway, beside the point. To deal with that I've been turning to comfort reading. Which means lots of things to different people but for me it basically means rereading all my favourite books. Mostly contemporary-

I've read Red white and royal blue

we where liars and

Daisy Jones and the six again in these last couple weeks.

Don't get me wrong, reading new stuff is amazing. I mean I also read the City we became by  N.K Jemison which was so cool but really I've just been loving returning to the familiar curling up with a tea and a biscuit and reading my favourite characters. And there is no better Characters then Daisy Jones and the Six.

God I love this book. It gives you such an amazing representation for the era. I mean the 70s- what a time, the clothes, the music, the disco scene. I have never read a book that embodies the time more in my life.

I feel like the second time round I got a better grip of characters like Warren,  Eddie and Pete. All interesting characters and I wish more light was shed on them. I also think I understand Daisy more now- how damaged she was and how she brought a darkness to her music that gave it more depth. Billy was not as lovable when I read his story this time. I will always like his character but he is a twat. I do think daisy had a point about how him and Camilla where cute but 'he had to stop writing apology songs to his wife and making the band play them'. That was what I had been thinking all along but I didn't know how to put it into words.

One last thing I picked up this time round was wow, these characters aren't meant to be liked. Their meant to be understood. That is really rare in fiction and it is so brilliantly done by Miss Reid.

This book will always hold a special place in my heart and I recommend everyone reads it-(again haha)

It is just a brilliant book- a fantastic book about life and rock and roll.

Read it! And if you've read it,

Read it again!

Annotate!

Pick up something you didn't realise before,

Judge the characters you know and love and seek out what makes them human-

Trust me, It will always be better the second time round with this book.

All my love,

Issy x
