Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (book review)

Dear reader,
Wow.
Woah.
Oh my.
This book? Was insane. And by insane I mean absolutely blooming brilliant. And by that I mean GIVE ME MORE. I am so sad I've finished this trilogy, so so so sad. I am devastated beyond compare or converse. It's done, it's over and It was absolutely fab. What to do with my life now Ezra Mason, Kady Grant, Hanna Donelly, Niklas & Ella Malikov and AIDAN aren't in it? You tell me. What was that? reread the books 80 million times??? Sounds absolutely perfect, thanks voices in my head.

So you noticed I didn't include the other two most recent characters from Obsidio hu?  Well, the thing is, I wish there were four books in the series.
These characters had the potential to steal my heart, but because they kind of squeezed their plotline into half a book and not a whole one like the other two, only stole a part of it. When I read Iluminae, I fell in love with Kady, Ezra and Aidan. I thought I never could love any book characters more, then I met Hanna, Ella and Nik and I fell in love all over again, maybe even more so. And that was because I got basically an entire book all about them and they could have done that with this one too! But they didn't and I still loved it, Asha was awesome and the Little Mouse thing WRECKED ME and when I say wrecked I mean, in bed for 3 hours sobbing when she died. It killed me, literally killed me. Oh, and when I thought for a literal split second that Ezra AND Nik were both dead? I kind of just melted into nothingness- thank god for that stupid parachute. I swear if ANY of you are sitting there thinking 'It's just a book', leave this blog. You are not wanted peasant.
Book deaths are really emotional because you've been living inside that person's mind and reading all their thoughts and feeling all their emotions and then boom. Gone. I think reading books with big emotional character deaths that mean a lot to you gives you so much understanding of death or losing someone. Hence readers being some of the most compassionate and caring people you'll ever encounter. Not to toot my own horn or anything... I don't toot honey-I synthesize.
Anyway, back to the review.
I wanted to see more cute bits from Hanna and Nik since they went through so much together in the second book. Seeing Hanna being upset about her dad, that picture where she's sitting at the space bay, made me cry. Dang, now I think about it, I was crying for most of this book. Another one of my favourite illustrations was the comic with Hanna, Niz and Ezra were crawling through the vents and then Hanna kicks some Bitech butt. That bit was so funny and really cool.
'Hanna stop staring at my butt, I'm serious!?' Bahaha, I love Nik.
But of course, the best picture was at the very end with the whole crew and Ella's goldfish.
That made my heart so whole :).
I think we got so much more from Ella in this book. That little spider definitely crawled her way into my heart. And Nik and Ezra becoming friends? The best thing to ever happen to a huge fangirl, such as myself. It's kind of like Prince Henry (red white and royal blue) and Baz pitch becoming friends. Someone write a fanfic about that already come on.

So, was this book my favourite in the series? No. Gemina will always win. Did I still absolutely LOVE it? Yes, I really did. Would I say this fantasy series could be my favourite in the whole world? Uh- yeah 1000%. The writing style is unique, the storyline is amazing and awesome, the characters are so sick and well written and developed. It's brilliant, the whole thing is amazing. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Five great big fat starts.

Until next time
Issy
